About Alfonso Cordero
Alfonso was born in 1957 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. His parents owned one of the best markets in the area for more than 30 years: “Colmado Victoria”.
Alfonso graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1980, with a major in accounting.
One year before graduation in the summer of 1979 he participated in an internship program at Deloitte and Touch. At the end of the internship he was offer a Job a year before graduation. Note: Less than 2% of the graduating class get a job at one of the big four accounting firms.
During his work at Deloitte he was promoted every year and went from an entry lever position to a senior auditor in 1983. This gave him the exposure to accumulate experience on more than fifty different business industries that is available to his clients at Cordero CPA PA.
In 1983, he moved to work for Citibank Puerto Rico in the Internal Audit Department and later in the Personal Loans Area. In 1984 he complete the CPA exam and in 1986 moved to Miami, Florida working with Citibank.
In the fall of 1988 he established Cordero CPA and has been offering his services to the business community since then.
Alfonso hosts a weekly Radio Talk Show in Miami, Kissimmee and Orlando. This is a mean to introduce himself to the community, give education on accounting and tax issues and pick up new clients.
Since 1988 Alfonso has been giving seminars on tax and accounting areas representing different government agencies including the Internal Revenue Service and SCORE. He is recognized as the authority on tax matters, for the Hispanic Community.
He has been active in the community helping victims of tragic situations. In 1992 he assisted more than 100 people affected by hurricane Andrew in completing paper work to get help from the private and / or public sector.
